Sometimes it’s important to expand your horizons and try something new. For a burger fan like myself that means trying a Lime Citrus Cod Burger, which was today’s experience at Blue Lemon. It was my first visit to the Blue Lemon in Highland, Utah which is a cool spot with fresh, flavorful menu options and a hip feel. Not originally planning on a burger today, to see the Daily Special as a Lime Citrus Cod Burger I knew it was a sign.
It’s was a $10 special and was served to our table rather quickly. It’s always a good sign when the cooking is done right in front of you so you can feel the freshness while you order and the speed was impressive. Served on a fresh white ciabatta bun with what tasted like a nicely marinated lime citrusy piece of cod, spinach, red onion rings, tomato and a lime aioli sauce with some extra crispy chips. The cod was very nice and refreshing but the bottom of the ciabatta bun didn’t hold up very well with the sauce and marinated cod so it crumbled after 2 bites. The toppings were obviously fresh and delicious and although I wasn’t full after this meal it was a nice, light lunch. The chips aren’t always my favorite but worked well for the freshness focus of Blue Lemon.
Overall the Lime Citrus Cod burger was a nice change of pace and priced about the same as the other menu items. I’d try it again but think the tacos are higher on my list for my second visit to Blue Lemon. It’s on special all week so if you are in the mood to check a cod burger off of your list, go try it. You won’t be disappointed.
