One of my favorite things about Lucky 13 is the fun they have with burgers. Posted regularly on their Facebook page, Lucky 13 posts special meat and exotic meat burgers. Today’s special was the Antelope burger which, in all honesty, has never been on my list of burgers to try but when the opportunity to eat an Antelope burger presents itself, you do it. So I did and here’s the official Antelope burger review.
Let’s start with a quick overview of Antelope and their meat.
Antelope look like deer but they are actually members of an animal family that includes goats and oxen. Mild-tasting and finely grained, antelope meat is similar to venison. Antelope has one-third the calories of beef. With that in mind, I had a healthy burger today…kind of. The Antelope burger was a very mild-tasting burger, in fact I think it could or should of had some sauce options to give it a little flavor. The munster cheese melted nicely onto the patty and the Lucky 13 signature bun was as good as it always is. I added bacon knowing the Antelope meat was mild and that added a little bit of flavor and texture to the burger but not that much. I also added garlic fries (always amazing) to make it a full and complete meal. Overall it was a good burger that I’m glad I experienced but not a burger I’ll try again. Nothing super special about the Antelope burger in my humble opinion.
