Bamboo Burger at Bamboo Restaurant in Hawi

Bamboo Restaurant is a local favorite in Hawi on the north side of the big island of Hawaii.  The atmosphere at Bamboo Restaurant is an interesting combination of Jimmy Buffett meets your Grandma.  Fun and relaxing coolness with quilts and do-it-yourself art for sale.  Now that the atmosphere has you scared, it’s time to recommend the burger as an island favorite…introducing the Bamboo Burger.

The Bamboo burger was a delicious Hawaii’s own beef patty cooked to perfection (I went with medium-well) topped with your choice of cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles and wasabi mayo.  The bun was lightly toasted and the beef was superbly fresh and delicious.  It was just the right size and nearly melted in my mouth.  The wasabi mayo made me scared at first but it’s a nice flavor and not overwhelming at all.  The Bamboo burger comes with pineapple coleslaw that hits the spot and waffle fries.  The waffle fries were a nice touch and the meal as a whole was fantastic.  In fact, this is a recommended burger and worth the drive to Hawi.

The service at Bamboo Restaurant was pleasant and exactly what you’d expect at a Jimmy Buffett meets your Grandma type restaurant:).  The burger was delicious, the waffle fries a wonderful surprise and the coleslaw was uniquely flavorful.  I can easily recommend the Bamboo Burger to anyone and know you’ll enjoy it.
